Casualty & Emergency OPD

  • In case of patients involved in medico legal cases the procedure enumerated below shall be followed.
  • All accidents /assaults /suspicious cases /poisoning and RTA related brought dead cases shall be enlisted as MLC and recorded in the case sheets and maintained separately.
  • The recording shall be done in Accident Register.
  • All Cases shall be informed to the police in writing by the Residential Medical Officer.
  • When a case identified as medico legal is brought to emergency department, RMO shall provide medical care as required.
  • Emergency staff shall inform the front office in charge who will intimate the police.
  • The MLC form shall be filled by RMO in duplicate (one copy for police and one copy for medical department). MLC report will be completed and signed as early as possible after the patient arrives.
  • The entry must be made in MLC intimation report in case the patient is already registered as medico legal in another hospital
  • In case of unidentified patients they will be registered as UNKNOWN and admitted under the concerned consultant and the intimation will be send to the police.
  • Emergency room is fully equipped with adjustable beds, compact and portable patient monitors, defibrillator, infusion pumps, syringe pumps, central oxygen supply, suction apparatus etc.
  • Well trained doctors and nursing staff, who are capable of handling medical / surgical emergency forms the major strength of the department.
  • All urgent investigations like Hemogram, Blood Biochemistry, Urine routine, urea, creatinine, Blood Gas Analysis, ECG, X-ray etc. are available for patient care within the emergency medicine department round the clock.
